Official Opening of Asia Culture Center (ACC)

& ACT Festival (Gwangju, Korea)

Asia’s the largest cultural complex, the Asia Culture Center (ACC), will be officially opened in Gwangju on Nov. 25.

The ACC, some 300 kilometers south of Seoul, has five major facilities: the ACC Archive and Research, ACC Culture Exchange, ACC Creation, ACC Children and ACC Theater. It covers 134,815 square meters.

The ACC will become a platform for international cultural exchange not just a local arts center for the people of Gwangju. In the context of international exchange, the second Korea-Central Asia culture ministers’ talks will be held at the ACC from Nov. 24 to 26. Culture ministers from five Central Asian countries ― Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan ― will visit to discuss strengthening cultural ties among the countries and cooperative use of the ACC.

And ACT Festival Programs will be held Nov. 25-28. The ACT Center is a new transdisciplinary institution in Gwangju. Launching with a major festival and exhibition this autumn, ACT will commence a dynamic year-round programme of activities that brings together leading Asian and international talent to share, collaborate, and inspire.
